This January, Uganda Trade School Kakoma celebrated a proud milestone—twelve students completed our 18-month tailoring program and graduated with the skills and tools to build a better future.
At their formal graduation ceremony, each graduate received not only a certificate but also a sewing machine and essential startup funds. These gifts equip them to immediately launch their own businesses or secure employment. Already, we’ve seen graduates open tailoring shops, start retail stores, gain employment in schools, and even pursue advanced leadership courses.
Their hard work, integrity, and determination inspire us all. And we’re just getting started.
This year, twelve new students have enrolled, eager to begin their journey toward self-sufficiency. In Uganda, the average monthly income for someone without an education is only $26—far from enough to meet even basic needs when a one-bedroom apartment in the city costs around $244. But with a skilled trade, these young adults can break the cycle of poverty, contribute to their communities, and live with dignity and hope.
Currently, 32 students are enrolled at Uganda Trade School Kakoma. Eleven have sponsors who cover their tuition, housing, and daily essentials. Along with practical training, each student also receives Christ-centered discipleship, preparing them not just for a career, but for a life built on faith and purpose.
21 students are still waiting for sponsors. Your sponsorship would not only provide education and basic needs—it would send a powerful message: “I believe in you.”
Special Urgent Need:
One of our students, Ainembabazi Hadijah, is blind and attends a school for the blind in Jinja, where she learns independent living skillsalong with crafts such as clothing and basket-making. Because her education is more specialized, she requires multiple sponsors—but currently has none. If you feel called to invest in Hadijah’s future, please visit: https://one30.org/?form=Ainembabazi_Hadijah
